WfP Supports Rashida and Ilhan

US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib will be co-hosting a Town Hall meeting with Michigan State Senator Erika Geiss and State Congressman Kevin Coleman this Saturday March 16 at John Glenn High School in Westland, Michigan (10:30 – 12:00).

Witness for Peace is excited about this opportunity to support Rashida (and US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar) as they appear to be the only elected officials who understand the corrosive impact the Israel Lobby has on US Foreign Policy.

As a result, Witness for Peace announces a CHANGE of VENUE for this Saturday’s protest to the parking lot of John Glenn in Westland (See map here). We then plan on attending the Town Hall meeting and offering fliers to interested citizens. Ergo, there will be NO scheduled vigil at Beth Israel Congregation this week.

Please join us: we will gather at 10:00 am near the entrance to John Glenn, holding signs in support of these brave women, and challenging the Lobby’s influence on our government.

Acting upon his own initiative, Vigiler C has started compiling the number of supporting gestures we receive from passing motorists (thumbs) and opposing gestures (fingers). His data follows:

(Date, Thumbs, Fingers)

Feb. 8           11 –   1

Feb. 16         16  –  3

Feb. 23         18  –  8

Mar.  2         21 –  7

Mar.  9         12 –   4

We report, you decide.

    Hooray for Rashida and Ilhan who dare to speak truth in Congress. I wish I could attend the event.

    As for the thumbs and fingers, you should include horn honks as thumbs

    After your long and mindless support of me as a candidate and then as president I’m very disappointed that you would support Rashida Tlaib. Where’s your loyalty? Need I remind you that Tlaib is on the record as saying “… we’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the motherfucker”? She was talking about impeaching me, Henry.

    Please get back on the Trump train. I’ll need you and other low-information voters to get me re-elected in 2020. In my next term I promise I’ll put America first. Trust me. It’ll be tremendous.

    IMO, it remains to be seen whether Rep. Tlaib really “understand[s] the corrosive impact the Israel Lobby has on US Foreign Policy” and if she will effectively confront it.

    She voted with the rest of Dems in the House in support of H.Res. 183 which includes the following:

    Whereas anti-Semitism is the centuries-old bigotry and form of racism faced by Jewish people simply because they are Jews;

    Whereas in 2017 the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported a 37 percent increase in hate crimes against Jews or Jewish institutions and found that attacks against Jews or Jewish institutions made up 58.1 percent of all religious-based hate crimes;

    Whereas there is an urgent need to ensure the safety and security of Jewish communities, including synagogues, schools, cemeteries, and other institutions;

    Whereas Jews are the targets of anti-Semitic violence at even higher rates in many other countries than they are in the United States;

    Whereas it is a foreign policy priority of the United States to monitor and combat anti-Semitism abroad;

    Whereas anti-Semitism includes blaming Jews as Jews when things go wrong; calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews in the name of a radical ideology or extremist view of religion; or making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotyped allegations about Jews;

    Whereas Jewish people are subject in the media and political campaigns to numerous other dangerous anti-Semitic myths as well, including that Jews control the United States Government or seek global, political, and financial domination and that Jews are obsessed with money;

    Whereas scapegoating and targeting of Jews in the United States have persisted for many years, including by the Ku Klux Klan, the America First Committee, and by modern neo-Nazis;

    Whereas accusing Jews of being more loyal to Israel or to the Jewish community than to the United States constitutes anti-Semitism because it suggests that Jewish citizens cannot be patriotic Americans and trusted neighbors, when Jews have loyally served our Nation every day since its founding, whether in public or community life or military service;

    If Tlaib can vote for all that and support the witch hunt against Rep. Steve King (R-IA) then what makes you think she’s trustworthy on Israel-Palestine? She’s also either a nit-wit or a hypocrite (or both) for claiming to support BDS while hosting her campaign web site on Wix, an Israeli platform with deep links to the Israeli global spying apparatus (I checked today and her site is still on Wix).
